The Bachelor

Let me qualify my remarks by saying that I had limited exposure to the ABC broadcast of The Bachelor.  I do know that Jason, aka The Bachelor, changed his mind between proposing to one woman (Melissa) and the live broadcast of  “After the Rose”–a time interval of six weeks, I believe.  I also know that he wanted a “shot” with the woman he did not choose to propose to (Molly).

Okay, so at least one woman is dealing with relationship loss.  The fact that she has to deal with the loss in front of a national TV audience is appalling.  Judging from the “play” the episode is getting, she’s not going to get much relief from the exposure she has already had to endure.

If there is any solace for her, it comes from the fact that most people seem to be sympathetically inclined toward her and highly critical of Jason.  I heard that “Kate” (Evangeline Lilly) from Lost, told Jimmy Kimmel that she would leave if he brought Jason out to sit with them both.  The brief survey I have done suggests that most see Jason as being deeply flawed, feel badly for Melissa, and think Molly should not give Jason another chance.

So, consistent with the advice given here on a regular basis, Melissa should take care of her self and start to move on.  Molly should be wary of Jason’s lack of empathy for Melissa and perhaps others in his life.  But I am interested in what others think.  Do you think Jason’s behavior (and perhaps ABCs) was appalling?  What do you think Jason’s problem is, if he has a problem in your opinion?  And, what do you think Molly should do?
